I have been trying to find your song "Restored" for nearly 14 years. I heard it in my car (played on KLTY) probably in 1995, but never knew the name of it... I have been searching all over the internet, even contact KLTY on two separate occasions-- but never could find the title or (you) the artist until this morning... All I knew were the words that touched me so deeply... "I lay down my arms and surrender, cause I don't want to fight anymore".

How can I get that CD / Song?

Thank you,
Kevin

Very interesting interview. Answers many questions I have had about Brent, both from the past and the not-so-past (after he left Warehouse Ministries). I like reading his thoughts, opinions, musings. I also majored in International Relations--part of the reason I find his writing of interest. I do agree with him, generally, and I find his writing quite eloquent (enjoyed his essays on the website). Thanks for this interview. I found it of great interest--but then, the man is multi-faceted, multi-talented, so I guess that helps explain it.

[...] Brent Bourgeois mentioned in his interview that most people only know the song Love is the Answer as performed by Seals & Croft (or England Dan & John Ford Coley). i didn’t think about that fact until he mentioned it. you know, it’s a bit sad to realize that the general listening audience doesn’t even know about the artist behind that classic song. So, today i thought i’d share a couple of different versions of the song Love is the Answer including one performed by none other than the ones that wrote the song - Utopia. [...]

this is a great interview that opened my eyes to the down sides of the industry and organized religion...many thanks!

it was great to see the hindsighted thoughts about a fairly quick ride in the music biz and always interesting to get takes on those who have recorded with Todd.

It was heartbreaking to read Brent recount the depredations of the music biz as he experienced them. He seems very bitter, and perhaps justifiably so.

I ran into him producing a session in Nashville in the late 90's and he was so visibly unhappy. I felt sorry for him that he'd been conned by the Jesus freaks.

Raised an atheist, it's hard for me to understand how Brent could go through what he did and come out calling himself a Christian.

If a belief system has any value at all it should be able to easily withstand something as relatively wimpy as commercialism.

Christ stood up to a much stronger force (The Roman Empire) and his example played a big part in bringing it down. But modern Christianity is so rife with dishonesty, sexual misdeeds, right wing hatreds, and an endless list of other sins it seems to embody sin much more than stand as a shining example against it.

Today's Christianity couldn't even overcome mere corporate buyouts. It couldn't because it's little different than corporatism. Big audiences and big money are the ultimate measuring sticks for both.

Christians who preach anything close to the ministry of Jesus are mostly reviled or go unnoticed. How many "Christians" have even heard of James Cone?

http://www.pbs.org/moyers/journal/11232007/transcript1.html

Hate merchants like Falwell, Robertson, Kennedy, and James Dobson get the headlines and millions of adherants. These horrible people and their equally horrible followers actually believe they're walking in the footsteps of Christ. Seems to me they're walking ON Christ--especially his legacy of compassion, forgiveness and chasing out the money changers.

A good friend of mine, an ardent practicing Nashville based Christian (and terrific human being) once told me "there's not much Christ in the Christian music business."

To me, it's like professing to love taking vitamins you know from experience aren't doing you any good because, well, a lot of people belive taking vitamins is a good and necessary thing.

But more and more people have come to realize its cheaper, easierm and more effective to just eat nutritious food.

I hope Brent finds his way to real peace and happiness . . . whatever the path.
