journey revelation coverWell, what do ya know. Journey’s brand new album Revelation has made it into the Top 5 in Billboard’s Album charts. That’s an amazing feat considering that their 2000 album Arrival (with Steve Augeri) peaked at #56 and their last album in 2005, Generations only got up to #170. kudos to Wal-Mart and all the new fans that bought the album in the first week of release. reports indicate that the album sold approximately 105,000 copies this past week. that’s probably more than the total number of copies sold of Generations. what a comeback! click here to read the billboard news article.

  1. Now I haven’t heard any of this new album…am I going to be disappointed if I’m expecting the old sound of the Steve Perry driven era of Journey?

I didn’t mind Augeri as much as some, because his voice had the same qualities as Perry’s…I’m just not totally sold on a band playing musical singers barring something like Queen, who drafted Paul Rodgers since Freddie Mercury is no longer with us.

I mean, if a band takes a new singer and go in the toilet, doesn’t it tarnish the name a bit? Look at Van Halen when they brought in Gary Cherone…that Van Halen III was absolute crap.\

Just my two cents, and interested to hear your thoughts.

  2. I totally understand about being wary of bands replacing their lead singers. but their new album rocks. you won’t be dissappointed.
