Lindsey Buckingham surprisingly changes it up and doesn’t end up taking a decade to release his next solo album!! Buckingham usually labors for years and years tweaking his songs in the studio but after his recent success with the 2006 release of Under the Skin (and subsequent solo tour), he has decided that follow things up relatively quickly with the September release of Gift Of Screws.
Tracklist:
1. Great Day
2. Time Precious Time
3. Did You Miss Me
4. Wanna Wait For You
5. Love Runs Deeper
6. Bel Air Rain
7. The Right Place To Fade
8. Gift Of Screws
9. Underground
10. Treason
I still enjoy listening to the bootleg of Buckingham’s original unreleased version of Gift of Screws so it’s great to see some of the songs from that original version get the “official” treatment. Interesting to note that two of the songs that were originally titled “Twist of Fate” and “Shuffle Riff” have now been changed to “The Right Place to Fade” and “Wanna Wait for You”. I wonder if those two particular songs have been revamped.

here are some of my all time favorite mashups. when NOT done quite right, mashups can sound terribly grating but every once in a while you do encounter some that are fun, inventive and tuneful. check ‘em out! yeah, I know most of these are a few years old but that was when I was heavily “into” mashups. Now, not so much. anyway, enjoy. Beach Boys/Depeche Mode – I Feel Loved Be Still Mix It’s the dark night of my soul and temptation’s taking hold
But through the pain and the suffering, through the heartache and trembling
Huey Lewis/Snoop Dogg – Drop It Like It’s Huey by CompactRisk When the pimp’s in the crib ma, Drop it like it’s hot
When the pigs try to get at ya, Park it like it’s hot
And if a — get a attitude, Pop it like it’s hot
I got the rolly on my arm and I’m pouring CHANDON
And I roll the best — cause I got it going on
Annie Lennox/Rush – Annie Rush by Go Home Productions I look up to the little bird that glides across the sky
He sings the clearest melody it makes me want to cry
It makes me want to sit right down and cry, cry, cry
Spice Girls/Usher – Who? Yeah! by DJ Matt Hamer She’s all up in my head now
got me thinking that it might be a good idea to take her with me
cause she’s ready to leave now I gotta keep it real now
Cause on a 1-to-10, she’s a certified twenty and that just ain’t me
Kanye West/Cake – Kanye Mahna by Lenlow Cutie the bomb, met her at a beauty salon
With a baby Louis Vuitton under her underarm
She said, I can tell you rock, I can tell by your charm
Far as girls you got a flock, I can tell by your charm
It seems the media has been over-hyping the negative aspects of Windows Vista lately. I recently purchased a laptop with the new Microsoft operating system on it and I’ve been pretty impressed with the whole experience. I suppose some of those problems that have been reported in the past involved inadequate systems that didn’t have enough power to handle the slick new Aero interface. But as long as you get a nicely configured desktop or laptop, Vista will run just fine. and in any case, Microsoft’s Windows Vista Small Business Assurance Team is available to assist with any sort of upgrade issue or compatibility problem that one may encounter. The biggest benefit that I see in going from XP to Vista is the improved security features. You can now run as a “standard user” with limited permissions instead of as an “administrator” so that dangerous malware can no longer come in and execute commands in this mode. I also love the new look of the graphical interface with the translucent glass window frames, cool animations and loads of helpful “gadgets” that can be place right on the desktop. Another thing Microsoft got right this time around compared to the old XP OS is the integrated search capabilities which lets you simply type in a filename or program name quickly and easily without having to click for windows explorer. There’s a lot to like about Windows Vista. There’s no need to be afraid of change, my friends. Step up to the “new” and see the difference yourself.
I’m grateful for all the rain this week especially since we’re all still recovering from a long drought. but man, the mushrooms are having a field day on parts of my lawn. there seems to be an endless supply of these things. I can’t seem to pull them out fast enough!
hhmmm, don’t some of these look a bit phallic to you? ..or is that just my mind in the gutter again?
wow. that was painful. my site went offline for about eight hours yesterday. wtf. I reported the problem to tech support pretty early on but since my hosting company is located in Australia, this was all happening “overnight” their time.
I never did get a straight answer from them but I think it had something to do with their nameservers.
well, at least the site is back up and running now.
who can blame Julianne Hough for taking advantage of the built-in audience she garnered from her stint on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars? releasing a new pop-country album is probably a wise business move on her part. since it has nothing to do with dancing, I’m sure ABC and the producers of DWTS don’t have any complaints about it. and thanks to her fan base from the show, the album debuted in the top 5 on Billboard’s Top album chart. but her “TV celeb” status can only take you so far. does the album deliver the goods? unfortunately, I’d have to say no. Julianne Hough is completely likeable and she obviously got the looks but her voice is pretty one-dimensional. Hough doesn’t have the vocal chops to pull listeners in and keep ‘em interested for 40 minutes. to compound the problem, the material is second-rate. the songs are just typical stuff that gets cranked out by the Nashville songwriting mill. they’re probably leftovers that Carrie Underwood, Faith Hill and the like passed on. since she’s on tour the whole summer opening for Brad Paisley, maybe she’ll get to work on those vocal chops. so who knows, maybe with some better material, her follow-up effort might be more interesting…

people tend to think of eyeglasses as a functional item rather than an accessory. but just as Superman disguises himself as Clark Kent with a pair of glasses, folks can quickly and easily update their appearance with some stylish new frames. online retailers like zennioptical.com make shopping for the latest styles a snap. and besides the huge selection of frames, they also provide the latest in corrective lens technology including sunsensor lens, progressives and UV-protection. check out Zenni Optical today.
yes, yes, we’ve been told over and over that the inexplicable phenomenon known as David Hasselhoff is big in Germany but that doesn’t necessarily explain why the Hoff really needs his own social networking site. [via paste magazine]
simply titled “HoffSpace”, apparently the Hoff needed his very own “myspace”. incredibly, the man’s already got over 9000 registered members. I didn’t get a chance to verify but I assume their all from Germany.
I recently read somewhere that stage costumes are on their way back for performing bands. yup, apparently halloween costumes aren’t just for halloween anymore. remember those days back in the 70′s when Genesis’ lead singer Peter Gabriel would be fronting the band on stage as a giant flower. well, elaborate stage shows are all the rage once again thanks to popular live acts like Gnarls Barkley, The Flaming Lips and Panic at the Disco. audiences are tired of the same old jeans and t-shirt look that rockers comfortably sported for years on stage. as ticket prices rise higher and higher, people go to shows expecting to be stimulated visually as well as aurally. I know if I were part of a touring band right now, I’d be all into wearing some unusual get-ups with brightly colored Costume Wigs. especially now that I’ve reached middle-age, I’d have to put more effort into looking “stage worthy”. I mean, why would concert goers want to see some old dudes on stage like they just wandered right off the street? audiences appreciate the extra effort put in for “presentation”, you know what I mean? It gives the eyes something visual to enjoy while the ears are there to simply enjoy hearing the music.
