oh, by the way, here’s my list of songs I’d personally love to see Todd perform live:
1) Parallel Lines – probably my all time favorite Todd song. The “Up Against It” version, especially.
2) If I Have to Be Alone – amazing vocal performance on 2nd Wind. I would love to see him do this one up close and in person.
3) Just One Victory – his current show closer. always a favorite.
4) Worldwide Epiphany – Rundgren’s studio version pales in comparison to what this sounds like live.
5) Mated – Yes, call me sappy. but it’s another classic that I would love to see Todd do.

    Uh,

I’ve pre-ordered 20 copies of Arena to give to friends as gifts, and don’t want to impair other folks’ chances at winning the freebie, so don’t put my name in the hat, but here’s my list of a few tunes I’d like to hear TR do live:

(leaving out songs I’ve heard TR do over the years)
    Living (Liars)
    Don’t You Ever Learn? (Todd)
    Healer (Healing)
    Shine (Healing)
    You Need Your Head! (AWATS)

  2. Lin Sprague on 16 Sep 2008 at 2:28 am #

Oh, there are so many candidates, picking just five is really hard. For someone with such an extensive catalog, Todd doesn’t tend to dip very far into it.

    - I Think You Know
    - Devil’s Bite
    - Past
    - Healer
    - Sunset Boulevard

  3. Chip Vaughn on 16 Sep 2008 at 4:30 am #

    2 BLACK & WHITE (Perfect for Arena-tour)

4 THE DEATH OF ROCK’N'ROLL (guitars, guitars, guitars)

5 SINGRING AND THE GLASS GUITAR (I know it’s a very long song, but with a perfect balance between musicians, it would be interesting to see Rachel plays the wind,Kasim the fire and Prairie the water, Todd naturally earth on guitar)

Heard Todd play the album live (July 28 – Bearsville, NY) and some of the hooks are still bouncing around my head after only hearing the songs that one time. Todd proves once again that he can still create great pop tunes, this time with in-your-face vocals and classic sounding rock guitar licks. He also delivers the subtle and not-so-subtle humor that long time fans will relish. Can’t wait to hear the studio version!

    and the list:
    Just One Victory
    Black Maria
    Mad (from Arena)
    Real Man
    Love in Action

  52. Ivan Russia on 17 Sep 2008 at 2:34 pm #

I would love to hear some Utopia. Without Utopia I wouldn’t be making the music I make. Utopia taught me about big hooks, arena rock, and yet the songs are still smart, they all have content. I swear by Adventures in Utopia, Oops! Wrong Planet, Utopia, Oblivion, POV. When I write songs if I hit a wall I put on one of these six records. picking 5 songs is really hard, and I am really passionate about Todd’s solo music too! any how here’s five Utopia songs.
    Trapped
    Set Me Free
    Libertine
    Cry Baby
    Play This Game
I have to say that the people I call friends, when I turn them on to Todd’s music it’s Utopia they gravitate to first (maybe it’s cause there all under 30!) or maybe they just dig the rock. I’ll be seeing Todd in Chicago. on October 6th. My band MR RUSSIA has a gig on October 9th, FREE Show at Double Door, anyone wants to come out and meet some young Utopia fans and watch them rock!

  53. Lindi Russia on 17 Sep 2008 at 2:37 pm #

    I <3 Utopia!

Maybe I Could Change (the solo version of Todd at the Piano!)
    Gangrene
    Shot in the Dark
    Broke Down and Busted
    Hideaway

  54. Nancy Cochrane on 17 Sep 2008 at 3:05 pm #

I would be thrilled to hear any of these great Todd songs live:

    1. Sometimes I Don’t Know What to Feel

    2. Fair Warning

    3. Last Ride

    5.Fade Away

But, then again I’m just happy if Todd plays in a city near me!

  58. Mark Morris on 17 Sep 2008 at 10:36 pm #

    I’d like to hear:

    Couldn’t I Just Tell You

    Just One Victory
    A Dream Goes On Forever
    Love Is The Answer

  59. Hersh on 17 Sep 2008 at 10:36 pm #

    1. Has to be “If I Have To Be Alone” from Second Wind. Todd’s voice at its most powerful, emotional best.

    2. “The Night The Carousel Burned Down” from Something/Anything. I swear this would make a great movie soundtrack.

    3. “Parallel Lines” from Nearly Human. A song of longing and love lost, or actually never realized.

    4. “Fair Warning” from Initiation. A song rarely, if ever done live.

    5. “Property” – No World Order Lite version.

    Tomorrow it will all change!

  60. anthony mortimore on 18 Sep 2008 at 2:09 am #

Heres my five that I would like to see (and have never seen) played live.

    1. Fair Warning
    2. The Ikon
    3. Marlene
    4. Secret Society
    5. Determination!

    Whew!!!!

  61. Jules T. on 18 Sep 2008 at 2:48 am #

With many of us going to multible shows per tour, it’s kinda difficult to remember all the tours and what he’s performed, or not performed during each of them…

My top five that I’d wish to hear live as I type (which changes every second are) :

    1) Blue Orpheus

    2) Another Life

    3) Man Of Action

    4) Truth

    5) Come As You Are

  62. Chris B. on 18 Sep 2008 at 6:46 am #

Yikes!! Only 5…huh? I’d like to try to limit mine to things I’ve not heard him do live before. As somebody else mentioned, I’ve been to so many shows over so many years, it’s hard to remember sometimes what I’ve heard & what I haven’t.

    Disclaimers aside… here goes nuttin’…

    1. You’re Fast (At all the Arena shows I kept thinking I’d LOVE to hear this lineup have a go at that!)

    2. I Will Wait (Kaz sang it on the album but I thought I read someplace that Todd wrote it pretty much alone. Would like to hear his take)

    3. Determination (I’ve racked my brain & I don’t think I’ve heard it live. I know it was played live on the tour with the Hello People but BTTB was just before the start of my concert-going days)

    4. What’s Happened to You? or I Still Believe (Artist’s choice!! He’s been doing The Call’s Walls Came Down for a while now. I understand why. But, if he’s listened to the rest of their stuff I’d like to hear his take on either one of these.)

    5. And God Created Woman (No one will EVER convince me Prince wasn’t listening to a lot of Todd when he wrote this. Would like to hear Todd sing it just once)

    Great idea! Nice contest!

  63. Wendy Bauer on 18 Sep 2008 at 12:04 pm #

I’d like to hear Todd playing these tunes live:

Black and White (my all-time live favorite)

    Libertine

    Broke Down and Busted

    International Feel

    Don’t You Ever Learn?

I love the new Arena songs, too.
