While doing some prep work for my upcoming review of This Is Our God by Hillsong Live, I came across this news item from Christian Music Today that was posted back in September. Apparently, Pastor Michael Guglielmucci, who wrote and performed “Healer” on the album, deceived thousands of Hillsong church members about his battle with cancer. He flat out lied to his family, friends and followers about having the disease. In reality, Pastor Guglielmucci was dealing with 16 year porn addiction. What a tragic fall from grace. and it’s truly sad to think about how this selfish act negatively affects the faith of thousands of believers who sincerely prayed for, put their trust in and contributed their hard earned money to this man. Hillsong reacted swiftly by pulling the song off of their website and plans to remove the song off of future pressings of This is Our God. That’s too bad since the song was one of the featured highlights on the album. Look for my review of the album in the next few days.

we do not have the right to put mike down yes he has sinned but we need to forgive him just as jesus forgives us for the sins we do everyday
the song healer was one of the most blessed, annointed songs i have ever heard the word’s did not come from mike thay came from god
we need to give mike a chance to get his life back on the right track
he has a long way to go but he will get there it is up to us to keep on praying for mike and his family
i belive in mike and i have not stoped praying for him we all need to do the same
god loves us no matter what we say or do he never stops

I just viewed this report today. What is the most saddening is the way we as a society force people to feel ashamed of their sin. God is the only one who should jugde us. Now that I know where is was truly coming from when he wrote this song it means so much more to me. Addiction is a disease that we need healing from. No matter what it is. overeating, smoking, or pornography. Anything that keeps us from the Holiness of God and His Righteousness is something we need healing and deliverance. I am proud of this man for listening to God and telling all. I am sure there is nothing harder he has ever done in his life. I belive that God will free Michael from this bondage in his life. I also belive that God gave him this song to reach people and build their faith in God’s healing power. Thank you Michael. May God bless you and your family.
