MagNext Virtual

January 14, 2009

One of the Christmas gifts my son is still enjoying is the MagNext iCoaster building set. Usually, kids grow tired of toys and games in a matter of weeks, sometimes even days. But the iCoaster seems to have staying power. My son loves putting together different track configurations to see how the magnetic ball travels through the set up. As a parent, it’s always great to see a toy that stimulates the mind and helps kids utilize their problem solving skills. As a matter of fact, the company behind the iCoaster has recently opened up a virtual community built especially for kids called MagNext Virtual. It’s a free flash-based portal for kids to use to access some cool games including an iCoaster game. I had an opportunity to try it out just to make sure it was safe for my seven year old to use. And I have to say that I was very impressed with the virtual world MagNext has built and I’m pretty sure my child will be spending a lot of time on the site. You explore the world as a colored magnetic ball and you can visit various areas to play different games, challenge other gamers or modify the appearance of your avatar. The iCoaster game is basically a puzzle game where you have to find the correct missing pieces of the roller coaster track or risk having your magnetic ball fall off the track.

It’s great to see a toy manufacturer care enough to build an online world on their website for kids the world over to use for free. Plus, the games are good, clean fun with no violence or mayhem to worry about. The graphics are pleasing to the eye and since it’s flash-based, it should be accessible with any browser. If you have kids searching for new games to try, be sure to show them the fun and exciting world of MagNext Virtual.
