make every mile count with BeeWell
As some of you know, I’ll be turning the big *4-0* later this year. It’s definitely NOT something I’m looking forward to but sadly something I will inevitably have to deal with when I get there. As they always say, the body goes downhill once you hit forty. And I’ve seen some startling indicators with my body that seems to support that notion. I can no longer eat like a college student anymore and have to be more conscious of what goes into my body. And regular physical activity seems to become an even more important factor as the years go by. I recently started taking up jogging again. It wasn’t easy at first but knowing that I’m actively taking steps to keep healthy, made the initial pain worth it. And while I’m making an effort to get my ol’ body back on track, I thought I’d help out a great cause in the process. BeeWell Miles is an online site that raises money for the Breast Cancer Network of Strength. This organization provides emotional support for those affected by breast cancer. The neat thing about BeeWell Miles is that from now until the end of October, I can log the miles I run each day and Bumble Bee Foods will then donate $0.15 per mile to the Breast Cancer Network of Strength. So my daily workouts are no longer about me but for all those diagnosed with breast cancer as well. Besides keeping up with the miles I run, the BeeWell Miles website features tips and advice on a healthier lifestyle as well as a calorie counter and a handy activity/nutrition balance offset tool. Oh, and the best thing is that anyone can join and log in their own miles to help the cause. It’s absolutely free and you even get a chance to win one of 15,000 prizes each time you log in! Make those miles count, sign up today!

hey, no offense but I wouldn’t have guessed you were 39. from what I’ve been reading here on the blog and you liking Rundgren and all, I was thinking you were closer to 50. heh. sorry. anyway, stay healthy “young man”.
Daniel,
I am so impressed that you would participate in such a wonderful program. Kudos to you. This new plan will have you G-string fit in no time.
I hear you loud and clear about the, “downhill after 40″ I use to be able to eat like a truck driver, now I look at a pic. of something high in claorie in a mag. too long and I feel tension in my waistband.
I use to warm up with a few stretches and then run for 5 miles every day. Now if I tried that my knees would throb for the rest of the day. I will be 51 soon and have to warm up with a lot of stretches, then strength training with free weights. I have to start with a jog and build to a run and then at about the 4 mile mark I get played and just walk home…..dragging my but and panting like my dogs on a hot day….I can only do it 3 times a week now and my doc says my knees are weakening and i might want to try JUST walking…bummer….
You’re still a youngster with the best years still ahead!! enjoy them with good health!!!
I’m proud to belong to a site who’s owner supports breast cancer awareness and services. Awesome Daniel!
Daniel, excellent program that you’ve become involved with!
And listen, life really gets better and better the older you get.
Sounds like a great running program Daniel, not only do you get healthier but you get to give back to a good cause, wonderful!
hey Nina, Seachelle and Jen S.!! thanks for the encouragement. I’m sure once I get a routine going, things will get easier. like they all say, no pain, no gain. ugh.
Rich – sorry to *disappoint you* heh. I guess as long as you didn’t think I was some sort of 13 year old dweeb, it’s all good.
You can tell I’m a lot older than you Dan, I would so freaking love it if someone thought I was 13 again…Dweeb or not…I’d take it! rofl…
I knew I was getting older when the bag-boys at the supermarket stopped calling me,” babe,” and started saying, “mame”…rofl
Lisa- As Ive said before I’ll be turning 22 for the 15th time in Oct. My husband though will be the big 4-0 in July which Im happy to point out to him every single chance I get. From the pic of you & your sis you don’t look close to 40 in no way. Id have never guessed you were 40. You still look good, so you need to work that shit! Yes ladies for a moment I did indeed go ghetto!
10doll, where did you see a picture of Dan and his sister?
I think 10Doll got a bit confused with the hyperlinks last night. It looks like she thought she was on Lisa’s blog and assumed this post was written by Lisa.
Sure, I’d like to trade ages with Lisa. I’ll let her be 39 and I can be 27. yay!! thanks 10Doll!!
Bless our little 10doll’s heart.
Dan, when do you find the time to run??? Do you have a set time that you try and do it? How is it going so far?
Yea, I have a RetroBlog link on my page and it shows what was last updated. In the link Daniel is talking about turning 40. It appears on my page so I guess it is a little confusing. Lets not rush me 10 doll..lol!
My husband will be turning 38 this Aug and I call him my little old man….tee he. He tells me not to get to snarky, because it goes by faster than you think.
Im all kinds of turned around! Who knows where I got my info cause I sure as Hell don’t. Just throw a sheet over the top of me & maybe I’ll go right to sleep like a parrot does. I told you all how easy it is for me to get distracted. It doesn’t……OH LOOK SOMETHING SHINEY.
Seashelle – I try to run first thing in the morning, at least three times a week. there’s a nice hill-y route I take through the neighborhood. It’s still not that easy to be motivated but I’m trying. thanks!
Lisa and 10Doll – glad to see that was cleared up! heh. Thanks for linking me back Lisa!
