new Hall and Oates box set to be released
OK, the long-awaited Hall and Oates career-spanning box set is finally scheduled for release on October 6, 2009. Sony/Legacy will be releasing the 4 CD set which will include a total of 74 songs, 16 of which are previously unreleased. Also note that the title of the set has been changed from “Straight From Philadelphia” to Do What You Want, Be What You Are: The Music of Daryl Hall & John Oates. Fans have been waiting anxiously to find out what will be included in the set after it was initially announced back in March. Several unexplained delays pushed the box set back from a June release to the recently announced October date.
Anyway, here’s the official tracklist provided by Sony/Legacy. I get the feeling that long-time fans were hoping for a lot more rarities than what’s showing here on the list but what can you do…

I’m personally hoping the box set will be properly mastered with improved sound. The way that they master CDs nowadays, I’m afraid of the songs being “brickwalled” to death with no dynamics. We’ll just have to wait and see…

AHH! I’m so excited, I love Daryl and John. I’ll be buying it October 6th
I was disappointed by the track listing. What can you do though?
I really think this box set could be the swan song as neither men have plans to record anything as Hall & Oates anytime in the near future. As matter of fact, both men have reveal interviews for the box set they both plan to record solo albums in 2010.
