Chickenfoot live webcast at Cabo Wabo Cantina
Did anyone catch the live Chickenfoot webcast a couple weeks ago? Man, that was tough on the ears! Sammy Hagar’s voice was shot. ouch. He could not hit the high notes at all. And overall the whole band sounded rough …well.. with the exception of Joe Satriani, of course. Satriani will always be awe-inspiring on guitar even on an off night!! Don’t get me wrong, I’m a fan of the group and I liked their 2009 CD release and all but that live broadcast from Sammy Hagar’s Cabo Wabo Cantina was a huge letdown. I really thought they’d sound so much better in a live setting. I suppose it was just an off-night and I think this show was just a one-off anyway and not part of a larger tour so they might not have been firing on all cylinders that night. whatever. I guess if I want to see a better representation of their live show, I should just view their newly released live DVD – Chickenfoot: Get Your Buzz On.
I guess I shouldn’t be too hard on Hagar. The man is still rockin’ at the age of 62 for goodness sakes!!
So, what’s next for the group? Well, it looks like Chickenfoot is on hold until 2011 since Chad Smith is back in the studio with Red Hot Chili Peppers and Satriani will be working on a new solo project with Jeff Campitelli, Allen Whitman and Mike Keneally. Also Satriani has a European tour scheduled for October/November.
Hopefully Satriani and Hagar will come up with stronger material the next go-round, especially in the lyrics department! Come on, some of those lyrics are just cringe-tastic!
